The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to announce its reserved judgement in the case pertaining to the issue of party leadership, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Lawyer Amir Saeed Ran appeared before the commission on Tuesday on behalf of Kamil Ali Agha.

The lawyer said that a case pertaining to remove Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Tariq Bashir Cheema from the party positions is in the commission. He said that the ECP has not announced the reserved verdict on the case.

He further said that there is immense political hullabaloo after the dissolution of Punjab Assembly and the party wants to issue tickets to its candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections.

Lawyer Amir Saeed prayed to the commission to announce its verdict on the PML-Q leadership case.

The commission said it would look into the matter.

The Election Commission reserved the judgement on different petitions on the issue of PML-Q leadership.

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday suspended the party membership of Ch Parvez Elahi.

The suspension order was issued by Ch Shujaat after chairing an emergent meeting of the party which was attended by the party’s secretary Tariq Bashir Cheema, PML-Q Senior Vice President Chaudhry Salik, and senior leader of the party Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.

Shujaat sent a show-cause notice to PML-Q provincial party president Ch Parvez Elahi over his comments regarding the party’s possible merger with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

The development comes days after Elahi said that consultations were underway on a possible merger of PML-Q into PTI.

The Chaudhrys are involved in a fight for the PML-Q leadership and filed petitions in the ECP in this regard.

On Aug 6, 2022, the ECP said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would remain president of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and Tariq Bashir Cheema its secretary general till the next hearing of the case.

A four-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja heard Shujaat Hussain’s plea against the intra-party election, which had removed the duo as president and secretary general, respectively.
