Pakistan reduces active coronavirus cases to below 71,000

The coronavirus was found in another 2,085 people during the last 24 hours (Thursday) after which the overall number of cases in Pakistan increased to 259,999.
According to the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Friday morning, the virus claimed 49 more lives, raising the death toll to 5,475.
With another 23,907 tests administered during the past 24 hours in different parts of the country, the total number of tests jumped to 1,676,090.
Meanwhile, the number of active coronavirus cases is reducing with each passing day with the number currently standing at 70,787. It is because of the fact that 183,787 people have fully recovered from the infection.
But 1,895 coronavirus patients are still in critical condition and therefore being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals.
Sindh continues reporting most of the new cases with the total reaching 110,068 on Thursday. The province has also recorded 1,922 deaths so far, which meant that 34 more lives were claimed by the deadly virus during the past 24 hours.
When it comes to Punjab, the province has reported 89,023 cases and 2,059 deaths while the comparative figures for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are 31,486 and 1,124.
The data compiled for the other provinces/ administrative units is: Islamabad 14,454 cases and 157 deaths; Balochistan 11,385 cases and 128 deaths; Azad Kashmir 1,808 cases and 46 deaths; and Gilgit-Baltistan 1,775 cases and 39 deaths.
