Assefa Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and sister of party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said on Saturday that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, her father, had launched development projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) when he was the country’s president, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a public gathering in AJK on her first-ever tour to the territory, she questioned as to where were those who were today listing their ‘contributions’ for the Kashmir cause. “Where were they when India revoked Article 370 of its constitution to strip occupied Kashmir of its special status?” she questioned.

When the state of Jammu and Kashmir was robbed of its special status, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said what he could in such circumstances.

“When we're in the power, we built six universities in AJK,” Assefa said, and added, “PPP is with the people of Kashmir and will remain so. With the support of people, we will get rid of both ‘Tabdeeli Sarkar’ and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

She said she was extremely happy today since it was her first visit to the AJK. “Kashmir is very dear to me,” the nascent PPP leader commented.

She said while her mother, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had become the voice of Kashmiris, her father Asif Ali Zardari worked for the territory’s development.

Quoting Bilawal, she said he had conveyed to India if it wanted peace, Pakistan, too, would go for peace, and if wanted war, Pakistan, too, would choose the same option.

The PPP leader said the PPP government in Sindh had built Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Trauma Center where people were provided treatment free of cost. “We gave interest-free loans to women in the province. Our manifesto is people-friendly as it has the projects of education and clean water supply.”
