Contaminated cake causes mass illness among children in Sindh village

A disturbing incident has taken place in the village of Ghulam Muhammad Laghari, Union Council Maldasi near Hala, where over 100 children have reportedly fallen seriously ill following the consumption of contaminated cake, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The incident has prompted grave concern, with many children experiencing intense vomiting and diarrhea.

Local sources indicate that the cake, later found to be unsuitable for human consumption, was allegedly brought into the village by a young man belonging to Bhitshah.

The children began exhibiting severe symptoms shortly after it was distributed among them.

The medical teams, in response to the crisis, were dispatched swiftly in order to provide urgent assistance to the affectees.

 Several of the most severely ill were transferred to the healthcare facilities in Hala and Shahdadpur, where medical staff are making every effort to ensure their recovery.

The incident invited strong criticism from parents of the affected children, who have blamed the negligence of government authorities for the incident, asking the whereabouts of Food Authority and Quality Control.

Locals are now urging Chief Minister Sindh to take strict notice of the situation, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure such an event is never repeated.
