Govt and Sugar Mills Association reach accord on sugar price

The federal government and the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) have reached an agreement on sugar price as both sides agreed that ex-mill price of sugar will be increased by Rs2 per kilogram every month for the next three months, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Thursday.

According to details, the agreement was signed by Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain on behalf of the federal government and by Secretary General of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association Imran Ahmed.

According to the accord, the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs165 per kg from July 15, 2025. It will increase to Rs167 per kg from August 15, Rs169 from September 15, and finally reach Rs171 per kg from October 15, 2025.

The current price of Rs 165 per kg will remain in place for the first month. The overall increase of Rs6 per kg over three months aims to stabilize the sugar market and ensure a consistent supply.
