Punjab govt to introduce digital payment system for Metro bus, Orange Line train

Punjab government has decided to introduce digital payment system for metro bus and Orange Line train, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In this regard, token system will be abolished in Lahore, Orange Line train and metro bus and barcode system will be introduced through card-based payment.

Ticket payment will be made through ATM, credit, debit card and mobile account apps.

In the mass transit system, fare can also be paid through NFC i.e. card tap.

Fare can be paid only through credit card and debit card on metro buses in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

E-payment system implemented in Lahore's Orange Line train and token system will be abolished soon.

Fare can be paid through credit card, debit card, payment apps on Lahore's Orange Line train.

It was decided to introduce a single card for mass transit system across the province.

Chairing a meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved T-Cash card for mass transit system.

Travel on every metro bus or Orange Line across the province will be possible through T-Cash card.

A separate card will be introduced for students in mass transit system.

The meeting gave in-principle approval for recruitment to technical posts from grade 5 to 18 in the Transport Department.

To organize Expo for International Transport for the first time in Punjab was also approved.

The meeting announced to introduce a single comprehensive RFID sticker for all matters related to vehicles.

It was agreed to introduce electric rickshaws as an alternative to motorcycle rickshaws in the meeting.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sought suggestions and recommendations for the electric rickshaw project.

Special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was briefed in detail on the Transport Department.

Secretary Transport Imran Sikandar Baloch gave a detailed briefing on the Yellow Line Lahore, Gujranwala BRT.

It was briefed that supply of electric buses in the districts of Punjab will start from August.

Design and color recommendations of prefabricated bus shelters in Lahore were also reviewed. 

Installation of 50 prefabricated bus shelters started in Lahore.
