The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has officially arrived, setting its sights on the ultra-slim Oppo Find N5 in the battle for supremacy in the book-style foldable category.

On paper, both devices impress with identical sleek profiles — just 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. However, beyond their shared dimensions, the two foldables diverge significantly in key areas such as display technology, camera performance, battery life, and charging capabilities.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now available for pre-order ahead of its official launch on July 25, 2025. Pricing starts at £1,799 / $1,999 for the 256GB base model, with 512GB and 1TB options available at higher price points.

In contrast, the Oppo Find N5, despite being touted as a “global” release, is currently only available in select Southeast Asian markets. While it’s possible to import the device to the UK, US, or EU, buyers should be prepared for additional import fees and taxes.

Ultra-Thin Design, But Samsung Is Lighter

Foldables have often been criticized for their bulk, but both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Oppo Find N5 push back against that reputation with incredibly slim profiles. Before the Z Fold 7’s arrival, the Find N5 held the title of thinnest foldable — a distinction now overtaken by the Honor Magic V5.

Both phones measure just 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, making them among the slimmest foldables available and comfortable to carry in hand or pocket.

However, Samsung takes the lead when it comes to weight. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs just 215g, noticeably lighter than the Oppo Find N5’s 229g and even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 218g. While a 14g difference might seem small, it’s something users will feel during extended use — especially when holding the device in one hand or keeping it in a pocket.

Samsung likely owes its weight advantage to the use of an Advanced Armor aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2. Meanwhile, Oppo’s slightly heavier build can be attributed to its titanium alloy hinge and larger battery — but we’ll get to that shortly.

Oppo Takes the Lead in Display Size and Sharpness

When it comes to screens — a major focus for any foldable — Oppo edges ahead.

The Oppo Find N5 features a slightly larger 8.12-inch main display, compared to the 8.0-inch panel on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. In addition to size, Oppo also offers a sharper viewing experience, with a 2248 x 2480 resolution and 412ppi pixel density, versus Samsung’s 1968 x 2184 resolution and 368ppi.

So while both phones are slim and premium, users prioritizing screen real estate and sharpness might lean toward the Oppo.
