Karachi Police high-ups have decided to terminate the services of a police officer who did not register the First Information Report (FIR) of a motorcycle theft which led to the use of that bike in a bomb blast in Orangi Town area of the provincial capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that Duty Officer ASI Roman has been issued a show-cause notice by the authorities in this regard.
According to the police rules, the punishment for any officer deliberately not registering a case is the removal from the job.
He further said that Roman neither registered the case himself nor did he intimate the station house officer (SHO) about the incident. “Such officers bring a bad name to the police department,” AIG Memon said, and added that Karachi Police’s performance was much better than before and that all SHOs had been directed to register cases immediately.
He further said that action would be taken against the police officer against whom any complaint would be received.
A blast had taken place in Orangi Town two days back on Monday (March 15) in which the motorcycle had been used.
