Salman Khan stuns in ‘Maatrubhumi’ poster, previews epic war drama
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has unveiled a gripping new poster from his upcoming film, now officially retitled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, formerly known as Battle of Galwan.
The poster showcases Salman in a rugged battlefield avatar, his face marked with bruises, cuts, and dried blood, capturing the aftermath of intense combat. With a piercing gaze and a wooden stick wrapped in barbed wire clutched in his hands, Khan exudes raw intensity and resilience.
The background features smoke, debris and faint silhouettes of soldiers, reinforcing the war-like atmosphere.
The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced under Salman Khan Films, is now set to explore themes of patriotism, sacrifice, and personal courage. The title, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, carries a reflective tone amidst its intense imagery, resonating with global conversations on contemporary conflicts.
According to sources, the renaming stems from diplomatic sensitivities involving India and China. “Salman Khan was advised in certain official and strategic quarters to rethink the title and tone down anti-China content. Taking this feedback seriously, he chose to align the film with the broader national sentiment, resulting in the title change and substantial script revisions,” the source shared.
The reshoots led to an increased budget, but Salman remained unfazed. The reworked narrative now focuses on the emotional journey of an army officer, exploring the intimate dynamics between Khan and Chitrangda Singh’s characters. At its heart, Maatrubhumi tells a story of love and duty set against the backdrop of conflict.
The film is expected to release between July and October 2026, pending approvals from the Ministry of Defence, with final patchwork shoots planned for the summer.
The soundtrack also promises to impress, featuring the song Maatrubhumi sung by Arijit Singh, adding to the patriotic and emotional appeal of the film.
