Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir Liaquat Baloch has demanded early elections in the country due to the prevailing political situation.
Speaking to newsmen in Bahawalpur on Sunday, the Jamaat-i-Islami leader stated that Imran Khan and his government came into power by managing the election process and his attitude and arrogance has resulted in a political crisis in the country.
Liaquat Baloch said the government should hold local body elections and Imran Khan should acknowledge his political incompetence and step down.
Commenting on the 18th Amendment, the JI leader said that the Federation has been strengthened and the provinces got autonomy due to the 18th Amendment and it would be dangerous to snatch rights from the provinces. Instead of tampering with the 18th Amendment, the Federation and the provinces should work in their respective spheres.
The JI leader also criticized the government for not restoring Bahawalpur province.
Moreover, he stated that the Punjab Education Foundation has stopped giving funds to thousands of schools therefore millions of children have lost their chance to get education and thousands of teachers have lost their jobs.
The JI leader also raised voice in favour of freedom of the press and said the government should abstain from creating more problems for the media.
