Six candidates to contest PS-70 Matli by-polls on May 20

The by-elections of PS 70 constituency in Matli, in district Badin, will be held on May 20, reported 24 News HD TV Channel on Monday.
According to district election commissioner Azhar Hussain Tanwari, by-polls for PS 70 in Matli would be conducted on May 20 and six candidates are participating in the by-election.
The district election commissioner said that PPP candidate Haji Muhammad Dada Halipota, JUI’s Maulana Gul Hassan, Grand Democratic Alliance’s Shahid Wark, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslamin’s Asad Leghari, Tehreek-i-Labbaik’s Pir Muhammad Ali Jan Sarhindi and an independent candidate Abdul Aziz Halipota are contesting the by-election.
The total population of Malti is more than 473,000 of which the number of registered voters is 166,909.
The number of total male registered voters is 91,587 while the female registered voters count is 75,222, informed the district election commissioner.
Tanwari said 123 polling stations have been set up in PS 70 constituency, adding that 41 among them are considered sensitive while 12 are declared very sensitive.
He said 1,671 police officials would provide security during the polling whereas 395 Rangers would also be posted in PS 70 for the same purpose.
The provincial assembly’s seat fell vacant after the demise of PPP MPA Bashir Ahmad Halipota.
