May 17, 2022 03:11 PM

An additional sessions court in Lahore on Tuesday extended the interim bails of 12 Members of Punjab Assembly involved in the assembly mayhem case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also approved bails of Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan and Inayatullah Luk.

Additional Sessions Judge Yaseen Mohil heard the case regarding ruckus in the Punjab Assembly during the election of chief minister of the province on April 16 in which several MPAs including Speaker and contender for the CM slot Ch Pervaiz Elahi got injured.

The judge was hearing bail petitions of 12 MPAs including Khiyal Ahmad Kastro, Rana Shahbaz, Malik Nedeem Abbas, Mahindra Paul Singh, Ali Raza Khakwani, Shujaat Nawaz, Ammar Yasir, Waris Aziz, and Muhammad Rizwan.

Ammar Yasir filed a petition seeking exemption from court appearance owing to his ailment.

During the hearing, the Qila Gujjar Singh police could not present record to the court saying that the record was in the high court.

On this, the additional sessions judge extended the interim bails of the 12 MPAs.

The lawyers told the court that the police added two more clauses – Sec 506 and Sec 354 – to the already registered FIR. And MPAs are being rounded up under these clauses, the lawyer further told the court while beseeching the judge to extend the interim bails of the MPAs in both the sections. The judge granted their request.

The judge summoned police record till May 25.

Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammed Khan and Inayat Luk also appeared before the court and requested for their interim bails in new clauses. The judge also extended their bails till May 25.
