President Pezexhkian shares image of oldest tree in Iran on social media
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has shared an image of a 4,500-year-old tree on social media, describing it as one of Asia’s oldest living organisms and using it as a symbol of Iran’s long historical and cultural identity.
In his message, the Iranian president wrote that the ancient cypress tree, known locally as “Sarv”, had existed on the same land that had been recognised as Iran for more than four millennia.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Iranian president's post appeared to underline the country’s deep historical roots and enduring civilisation.
The message came after recent remarks attributed to Donald Trump in which threats regarding Iran’s cultural and historical identity were reportedly discussed during escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.
The post also drew comparisons with a recent diplomatic gesture involving Xi Jinping, who reportedly hosted Trump during a visit to a highly restricted and historically significant government garden in China.
Observers viewed the Iranian president’s social media message as a symbolic attempt to highlight the resilience of Iran’s civilisation and cultural heritage at a time of increasing geopolitical pressure.
