Punjab and Zhejiang to become sister provinces under new agreement
The Punjab government has taken a significant step to enhance cooperation with China’s Zhejiang Province by approving plans to establish formal sister province relations between the two regions.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the decision has been made to develop a friendship and institutional partnership between Punjab and Zhejiang, aimed at strengthening bilateral provincial-level cooperation.
Under the proposed arrangement, both provinces will expand collaboration in key sectors, including trade, investment and technology, officials said.
The move is part of Punjab’s broader strategy to strengthen its international engagement and economic linkages.
The partnership is also expected to enhance cooperation in education, cultural exchange and industrial development, creating new opportunities for growth and mutual benefit.
Authorities said the sister province agreement would help facilitate development projects and attract investment, while also supporting progress in information technology and other strategic sectors.
Officials added that the initiative reflects growing efforts to deepen sub-national ties between Pakistan and China through structured provincial cooperation frameworks.
