Death toll rises to 10 in Hyderabad firecracker factory blast; one partner arrested

The death toll from the firecracker factory explosion near Latifabad No. 10 Bachao Band climbed to 10 on Monday after another critically injured victim succumbed to his wounds at Civil Hospital, officials confirmed.

Hospital authorities said the deceased, identified as Waqas, had been admitted to the ICU with 95 percent burns and remained in critical condition before passing away during treatment.

Two other injured victims are still undergoing treatment in the hospital’s burns ward, while one patient has been discharged after receiving medical care.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Shakeel, a partner of the factory owner Asad, in connection with the deadly blast. The suspect was presented before the anti-terrorism court, which handed him over to police on a seven-day physical remand.

The case was registered at B-Section Police Station against factory owner Asad and his four partners following the explosion, which devastated the illegal firecracker unit and resulted in multiple casualties.

Authorities have confirmed that the number of fatalities has now reached 10 as investigation into the cause of the blast continues.
