South Asia’s first vocational training centre inaugurated in Islamabad

The National Institute of Excellence Monday inaugurated South Asia’s first vocational training centre, marking a new milestone in skills development in Pakistan.

The programme was launched in collaboration with the College of International Skills Development and the Italian institution Istituto Fondazione Doria.

Italian Ambassador Marlena Armilin attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar joined as a special guest.

Chairperson of NewTech, Gulmina Bilal Ahmed, and CEO of PEF, Syeda Hajra Sohail, were also present as special guests. A large number of students, educators, and education professionals attended the event, underscoring its significance for the country’s youth.

Officials described the collaboration between Pakistan and Italy as a significant step toward creating a skilled workforce and opening new opportunities for the nation’s young population.

The initiative is being hailed as a major move toward a brighter future for Pakistani youth and a more skilled Pakistan.
