Seven people including three children and two women died when a fire swept their house late Saturday night in Muzaffargarh. The only survivor of the tragedy accused his in-laws of starting the fire over a love marriage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday morning.

The tragedy occurred in the Pir Jahanian area of Muzaffargarh and all the dead belonged to the same family.

According to rescue workers, the family was sleeping in the house when the fire broke out.

Police have got hold of the situation and launched an inquiry into the incident.

Later, the only survivor of the unfortunate family named Kala told the media that he survived because he was not in the house when the fire broke out as he had gone to Multan.

Kala held his in-laws responsible for the fire incident, saying his family was targeted because he contracted a love marriage one and a half year ago and wife’s family was not happy.

According to Kala, he suspected that his family was burnt to death.

Pertinent to note that among the dead were Kala's wife and 4-month-old daughter.

The DPO Muzaffargarh said that police have been investigating the matter from all angles.
