The US dollar gained another 46 paisas against the Pakistani rupee to finally close at Rs218.89 on the first day of interbank trading, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to the data shared by the State Bank, the value of Pakistani rupee depreciated by 0.21 per cent in a day.

The financial experts said that pressure was being seen on the Pakistani rupee due to external debt and import bills.

Earlier at the start of interbank trading, the US dollar had increased by seven paisas against the Pakistani rupee to reach Rs218.50 from Rs218.43.

On Friday, the previous week, the US dollar had marched upward against the Pakistani rupee and appreciated by five paisas to close at Rs218.43 in the interbank market.

It appears from the latest trends in the interbank market that the greenback—slowly and gradually—is wresting its recent losses to the Pakistani currency.
