Speaker Asad Qaiser could not get the copy of draft though he kept asking Babar Awan to present the draft to the session, sources said adding that the premier took notice and called Babar to explain.
Babar failed to give a satisfactory response to the PM and admitted that he was not prepared, insiders said, adding that the parliamentary secretary health shed light on salient features of the bill on the insistence of prime minister.
PM accountability aide Shehzad Akbar kept informing the premier about his performance throughout the session. Ali Gohar of PML-N, Tahira Aurangzeb and Mehnaz Akbar were seen flying paper planes while the opposition members started sloganeering calling Shah Mehmood Qureshi ‘lota’ as the foreign minister objected to PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto’s speech.
The prime minister showed up at the joint session of the parliament convened mainly to make the legislation prerequisite for Pakistan’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list.
