Cabinet approves establishment of province’s first insurance company, Chief Minister Green Tractor scheme and Children Heart Surgery Programme

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presided over a meeting of the provincial cabinet which granted approval to three mega projects namely “Apna Ghar Apni Chhat”, “Chief Minister Green Tractor” and “Children Heart Surgery Programme”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Under the “Apna Ghar Apni Chhat” scheme, half a million houses will be built throughout Punjab in the next five years.

It was decided during the meeting to enhance fines/penalties for procession of illegal weapons from half a million rupees to Rs0.7 million with three years of rigorous imprisonment.

The meeting also approved MDCAT policy for Public and Private Sector Medical and Dental College.

The provincial cabinet also granted approval for establishment of first Life Insurance Company of Punjab.

The cabinet decided to approve loans to those plot holders who already possess ownership letter and valid CNIC.

A person who will obtain Rs15 lac as loan will have to pay monthly installment of Rs14,000 in during nine years.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to convert Loaning Scheme into Revolving Fund sans any charges. She further directed to simplify scrutiny procedure of income resources for those who applying housing loan.

Maryam Nawaz directed all provincial ministers to pay the first installment of loan. Provincial cabinet okayed distribution of 9500 tractors under Green Tractor Program. The owners of these tractors will be granted subsidy of Rs1 million. This scheme will be implemented in September 2024 while balloting will be held on October 20, 2024.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that she wanted to distribute at-least 30,000 tractors to farmers. Cabinet also approved Chief Minister Children Heart Surgery Program. She directed to perform 12000 pending heart surgeries. She further directed to use services of international reputable surgeons.  

The provincial cabinet also green lighted to enhance sentences of persons involved in manufacturing of material used for kite-flying. All those persons will have to face imprisonment ranging from rom 2 to 5 years and will have to pay fine of Rs2 million to Rs5 million under Kite Flying Ordinance 2001.
