Crackdown on violations in Punjab Bar Council elections initiated

A crackdown has been initiated on code of conduct violations in Punjab Bar Council elections on the instructions of Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Usman Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

In this regard, Advocate General has delegated his authority as the returning officer to Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Usman Khan.

In the first phase, Lahore while operations will be carried out in other districts in the second phase.

Candidates' advertising banners and flexes have been removed in the vicinity of the Lahore High Court.

Advertising materials displayed on Turner Road, Fan Road, Model Town, Cantt Court and other places have been removed.

A crackdown will be initiated against advertising campaigns in Sessions Court Lahore soon.

Assistant Advocate General Usman Khan said strict legal action will be taken against candidates who violate the code of conduct. 

He said candidates should limit themselves to contacting lawyers only. 

Do not campaign through banners and flexes otherwise action will be taken against violations, Muhammad Usman Khan warned.

He said only by adhering to the code of conduct will elections be transparent and fair.

Punjab Bar Council Annual elections to be held on November 1 and election activities are in full swing. 

Advocate General Punjab's initiative in election publicity campaign is commendable, lawyers said.
