Punjab warns to take action over violation of minimum salary limit rule

The Punjab government has issued a warning to all heads of government and private organizations not to violate rule of the minimum salary limit of Rs40,000, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.

Department of Labour Welfare Director-General Syeda Kalsoom Hai issued a letter to all the concerned officials in this regard. 

The Department also barred Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA), corporations, and authorities from disbursing the minimum pay.

The Labour Welfare Department also informed them about the fixation of a minimum pay limit of Rs40,000, as this act is a clear violation of Section 11 of the Minimum Wage Act 2019. According to the rule, government and private organisations are bound to fix the minimum wage of a worker at Rs40,000.

The letter further explained that all private contractors who appoint any person directly will be bound to fix a minimum salary of Rs 40,000.

The Punjab government further said that strict action will be taken against those organisations that will be found in violation of the minimum wage rule. The Director-General expedited her efforts to secure the rights of employees.
