US announces new sanctions on Iran, targets global networks

The United States has announced new sanctions against Iran, intensifying pressure over allegations of financial support linked to Tehran, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to the US Treasury Department, the restrictions target multiple individuals and companies accused of facilitating financial transactions for Iran.

The crackdown extends beyond Iran, hitting several entities based in Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Officials said the move is part of Washington’s ongoing strategy to block Iran’s access to international financial networks and curb its alleged support for destabilising activities in the region.

The newly sanctioned individuals and firms will face asset freezes and restrictions on conducting business within US jurisdictions.
