Pakistani tennis star Aisamul Haq in a video conference on Saturday said that he was trying to help as many people as he could amid coronavirus outbreak.
“I am what I am today because of my parents. The Tennis Federation didn't help that much. I'm 40 years old but age is just a number. I haven't thought about retirement yet. India's Sania Mirza is also a good tennis player and a good person too.”
He confirmed that he contacted Sania Mirza for Mixed Doubles in the current situation but Sania does not want to get into any controversy.
“I would never want to face Rafael Nadal. I do not think whether it is a Jewish player or Hindu as all are human beings. The game teaches us to spread the message of love as long as I have the courage and the intellect we will continue to play.”
Aisamul Haq said there is a lot of talent of tennis in Pakistan. “If you invest in tennis then you will find alternative players. Not to be distracted by cricket but other sports should also be paid attention. How will tennis players be discovered when cricket is shown on TV for 24 hours?” he added.
Pakistan Sports Board should release his remaining Rs2 million as he and Aqeel Khan wants to help those in need of money, he demanded.
“I rejected citizenship offer from UK and other countries just for Pakistan. I will remain in my country and promote the tennis,” he vowed.
