Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday dismissed the reports about his meeting with his Indian counterpart in Dubai as baseless.

Speaking to the media, the foreign minister clarified that he wasn’t in Dubai for talks with India. He said that an impression was being created that he was in Dubai for talks with Indian officials, but it wasn’t true. He said no secret talks with India were under way and Pakistan had never tried to evade the talks.

Qureshi said that his meeting with his Indian counterpart was not scheduled during his visit to the UAE. He said that his meeting with the foreign minister of UAE was scheduled for Monday (April 19). He said he was in Dubai to mark the 50 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the UAE.

He said that Pakistan wanted further improvement in relations with the United Arab Emirates. He said that his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was meant to strengthen the relations between Pakistan and the UAE, and not between Pakistan and India.
