Women’s self-defence boot camp held in Peshawar to empower doctors

The Pakistan Martial Arts Association (PMAA) has conducted a women’s self-defence training programme in Peshawar,24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

The two-day Quwwat-e-Niswan Boot Camp was organised jointly with IFMSA-Pakistan at Khyber Medical College.

The camp, aimed to strengthen personal safety and resilience through structured martial arts education and real-world threat response training, brought together more than 200 female medical students and professionals from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Participants included students from multiple medical institutions such as Khyber Medical College, Khyber Girls Medical College, Rehman Medical College, North West School of Medicine, Kabir Medical College, Jinnah Medical College, Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi, and Pak-International Medical College.

Members of the Female Physicians Society of Pakistan also took part. 

The programme aligns with a broader vision led by IFMSA-Pakistan President Muhammad Zaid, who aims to train 10,000 medical students and professionals by 2028 in collaboration with PMAA.

Organisers Muhammad Hassan, President of IFMSA-KMC Local Committee, and Hadeeqa Saleem of LARA ensured smooth execution of the event, with participants undergoing six hours of training daily.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Aliena Badshah, President of the Female Physicians Society Pakistan, termed the boot camp a milestone in women’s empowerment and praised the cross-institutional participation. ShinKyokushin Karate figure Muhammad Zakariya Khan attended as chief guest and distributed medals and certificates to top performers.
