IHC allows Gill’s meeting with lawyers, seeks report from IG on torture

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Acting Chief Justice Aamer Farooq allowed the lawyers' team to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) arrested leader Shahbaz Gill in PIMS Hospital on Thursday.
A legal team of seven members comprising Barrister Hasaan Niazi, Naeem Haider, Tanveer Rajput, Mirza Asif Baig Qamar and others has reached PIMS Hospital to meet their client Shahbaz Gill.
The court also sought an official report from the Inspector General of Police Islamabad over the issue of police torture of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill in police custody.
Justice Aamer Farooq took up Gill’s plea against his physical remand. The advocate general of Islamabad, additional attorney general of Islamabad and top police officials appeared before the court and the prosecutor told the honourable judge that Gill was not tortured.
While the PTI claimed that Gill was tortured and is being forced to make a statement against Imran Khan.
PTI on Thursday morning challenged the district and session court orders of giving two days of physical remand of Shahbaz Gill in the sedition case in the IHC.
The lawyers of PTI demanded to suspend the order of the remand, but the IHC judge did not impressed and adjourned the hearing of the case till Monday.
