There is a high-level flood at the point of Ganda Singh in Kasur after the release of 150,000 cusecs of water by India into the Sutlej River, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The land connection between dozens of villages was disconnected as three temporary embankments were breached. Standing crops and gardens were also severely affected due to the breach in the embankments.

On the other hand, a 40-foot-wide breach occurred in Jharkal Canal in Bhakkar. Standing crops of cotton and rice spread over hundreds of acres of land were inundated after the canal breach.

The canal breach also affected farmers’ turns for water. “A 40-foot-wide breach can take time to be plugged,” said the irrigation officials.
