Tahir Andrabi takes charge as President of UN Conference on Disarmament

Pakistan's Additional Secretary for Disarmament and International Security, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, has assumed charge as President of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament.

In a message posted on X, Andrabi described Pakistan's assumption of the presidency as an honour and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing meaningful and substantive consultations among all participating delegations.

"It is an honour for me to assume the presidency of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament from Pakistan," Andrabi said. He said he was committed to taking forward meaningful and substantive consultations with all delegations under Pakistan's chairmanship.

Andrabi also expressed hope that the 2026 session of the Conference on Disarmament would be successfully concluded with consensus at the earliest. He also shared a photograph after assuming the presidency.

Pakistan's role in leading the Conference on Disarmament provides an opportunity to facilitate dialogue and consensus-building on international disarmament and security issues among member states.
