Only Allah can bring Nawaz, Dar back from London: Sh Rasheed

In complete contrast to the claims made by other members of the PTI government, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Friday remarked that only Allah would bring Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar back from London, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“We could not bring back Ishaq Dar despite [our] efforts then how [we] will bring back Nawaz Sharif,” he told a reporter.

But it is not for the first time that he has expressed these views as he has stated on several occasions that ensuring the return of Nawaz – the PML-N supremo – and his close confidant Dar was a very difficult, if not impossible, task.

Sheikh Rasheed was talking to media persons outside the NADRA headquarters in Islamabad after his first visit to the office where he attended a briefing.

Responding to different questions, he opined that the PDM would participate in the Senate elections. If not, by-elections were to be held in the constituencies vacated by the opposition, the minister vowed.

According to Sheikh, the opposition will surely not miss the Senate polls because they know that Prime Minister Imran Khan, by gaining a majority, is going to introduce tough laws against the corrupt who won’t find space after that.

He announced that the first CNIC (computerised national identity card) would be provided free-of-cost within 15 days and promised that the issues faced by the overseas Pakistanis were to be resolved in two months.

Sheikh’s statement about by-elections is totally opposite to what PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz believes, who told a press conference in Lahore that holding by-polls for 500 seats [both national and provincial] won’t be possible.

“And even if the by-polls are held, will we remain sitting like lame ducks?” she asked a reporter in response to his questions.

“How will they [PTI] justify rigging when they have 30 percent votes against the 70 percent of the PDM [parties]?” she questioned.
