PM Shehbaz, Asif Zardari discuss country’s political situation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday agreed not to allow anyone to create political instability in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Both the leaders held an important meeting in Lahore to discuss the present political situation in wake of former prime minister Imran Khan’s plan to dissolve the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on December 23.

The Special Assistants of Prime Minister Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan and Attaullah Tarar were also present in the meeting. 

In the meeting that lasted for 30 minutes, both leaders also evolved a consensus to take decisive action against those conspiring to default the economy. 

They also agreed to speed up measures to relieve the public from the burden of inflation along with economic improvement. 

During the meeting, the prime minister apprised Asif Zardari of the former’s meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. Premier Shehbaz Sharif and Zardari agreed to increase cooperation with Ch Shujaat. Both the leaders also agreed to task Ch Shujaat to stop the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, sources said. 

Sources claimed that the two leaders also decided not to approach Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi directly till a ‘green signal’ from PML-the Q president. They also decided to keep a close eye on the current political situation, sources added.

Both leaders also consulted on matters related to the relief of the people. 

Asif Ali Zardari appreciated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's efforts to reduce the prices of petroleum products. The two leaders agreed to increase the political power of the coalition parties. Political stability is essential for Pakistan's economic development, they agreed. 

They also pledged that the coalition government would continue to move forward steadily for political stability, and economic improvement.
