Beneficiaries of interest-free loan for Apni Chat Apna Ghar to get 20% concession

Punjab government has recommended to provide up to 20 percent concession to the beneficiaries on early repayment of interest-free loan for Apni Chat Apna Ghar programme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

This was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by DG Punjab Housing and Town planning Agency (PHATA) Sikandar Zeeshan on the instructions of the Secretary Housing.

The meeting was told that loan waiver for those who die during the loan period and concession will also be available in case of disability.

Meeting was further told that planning is underway to make loan repayment more-easy on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Interest-free loan of Rs1.5 million is provided for ten years in the program.

A plan of action for concession has been prepared as per the approval of the provincial cabinet.

All microfinance institutions including Akhuwat, NSRP presented practical suggestions in the meeting.

DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan directed to complete SOPs for the implementation of concession soon.

Concessions will be applicable on repaying ten-year loans in three to six years, DG PHATA said.

SOPs will soon be presented to Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin and Secretary Housing, Sikandar Zeeshan said.

The purpose of giving concessions is to create more convenience for the beneficiary citizens, DG Phata said.

He said the money coming ahead of time will help more citizens build houses.
