Year’s last ongoing anti-polio campaign enters into catch-up phase
The last and fifth national polio campaign of 2025 continued on the fourth day and entered into catch-up phase, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to National Emergency Operation Center, vaccination of more than 37.8 million children completed during the first three days.
More than 28 million children were vaccinated against polio in Punjab while 74.18 million children were vaccinated against polio in Sindh.
More than 61.5 million children were vaccinated against polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and more than 21.27 million children were vaccinated against polio in Balochistan.
More than 417,000 children were vaccinated against polio in Islamabad and more than 256,000 children were vaccinated against polio in Gilgit-Baltistan.
About 689000 children were vaccinated against polio in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and have been given anti-polio drops.
The national polio eradication campaign will continue across the country from December 15 to 21.
More than 400,000 polio workers are going door-to-door to administer anti-polio drops to children.
National EOP appealed the citizens to welcome the polio teams and make sure your children get polio drops.
Polio is an incurable disease that leaves children with lifelong disabilities, National EOC said.
Parents are requested to make sure their children under 5 years of age get polio drops, National EOC said.
The success of the national polio campaign is not possible without the full participation of parents and the community.
The polio campaign is being held simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
