The Sindh High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the proceedings, the petitioner told the court that he is a big fan of cricket and wishes to see live action in KP and Baluchistan too but he failed to convince the court.
According to the schedule of the 34 matches, nine will be played in Karachi; 14 in Lahore; eight in Multan; and, three will be played in Rawalpindi. Despite the fact that Peshawar Zalmi is the defending champion, no match is to be held in Peshawar. Quetta Gladiators too has been a champion, and yet there is no match planned in the city.
The petition read that the people in KP and Balochistan love the game of cricket very much, and thus should be provided with the opportunity to watch live action in their respective provinces.
On this, the court remarked “Why did you not raise your voice when Kabaddi matches were not played in Karachi?”
The petitioner failed to convince the court to take up the case further, and the court dismissed the petition seeking the PSL5’s matches to be held in KP and Balochistan.
The petition had also made respondents to the Patron of Pakistan Cricket, Chairman PCB, in addition to the owners of Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
