Raid on factory of PTI candidate for Senate election costs FBR DC dear

A raid on a counterfeit cigarette factory allegedly owned by a ruling PTI candidate for Senate election cost Federal Board of Revenue Deputy Commissioner Arshad Abbas dear, it has been learnt reliably.
FBR Peshawar DC Arshad Abbasi reportedly raided ‘an illegal cigarette factory owned by PTI leader Faisal Saleem and sealed it’. However, the authorities transferred DC from Peshawar to Quetta.
According to the notification, Peshawar DC Noor Rehman was also transferred to Quetta.
A couple of years ago, a report revealed that FBR faced a big challenge to pursue a tax evasion case against a cigarette manufacturing company
Notice was served to the company and a special squad was step under Sales Tax Act 1990 and Federal Excise Act 2005 to take action. The report cited a source as saying that nothing could be done because of political pressure and the notification was withdrawn.
Faisal Saleem, one of PTI candidates for Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has the past with the FBR and the FIA probes into his alleged illegal cigarette business. However, Faisal accused the FBR of blackmailing him.
