The first meeting of newly elected MPAs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hailing from PTI was held on Sunday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI’s nominee for the coveted office of chief minister chaired the meeting held at Speaker House in Peshawar. Speaker Mushtaq Ghani and all the elected members of the assembly from across the province participated in the meeting.
According to party sources, the meeting discussed matters related to the formation of the new government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The former ministers who served in the previous PTI-led government will be re-inducted into the cabinet, while those who lost in the general elections will be given the posts of special assistants and advisors in the government.
It was told in the meeting that the party is also in contact with various political parties to seek their support and cooperation in the formation of KP government.
The sources said the party bigwigs vowed that the projects initiated by the previous government would be completed by the new one and that all districts would be given a fair share in the development and governance. The meeting also introduced all the members of the provincial assembly and urged them to work according to the party policy and vision.
The party sources said that the government formation phase in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be completed soon and that the new cabinet will take oath in the coming days.
Inside Story of Meeting
According to sources, the meeting discussed various issues related to government formation and the alliance of PTI with other parties.
One of the major decisions taken in the meeting was to give the Deputy Speakership of the provincial assembly to Peshawar, as a gesture of goodwill and recognition of the city's importance.
However, the meeting also witnessed a heated debate on the merger of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) with PTI as many MPAs opposed the merger, citing ideological differences and lack of consultation.
The meeting also instructed the assembly members to implement the party rules and regulations, and to stay in Peshawar for a week.
The meeting emphasized the need to settle issues related to government formation within ten days, and to work for the welfare of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
