Fakhar Zaman poised to break Shahid Afridi’s record

Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has a golden opportunity to surpass former all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record in the upcoming Champions Trophy match against New Zealand at the National Stadium Karachi.

The highly anticipated clash, set to take place tomorrow, could see Fakhar achieve a significant milestone. The left-handed opener has amassed 1,053 runs in just 19 innings against New Zealand, placing him fifth on the list of Pakistan’s highest run-scorers against the Kiwis.

Shahid Afridi, who sits third on the list, scored 1,078 runs in 35 innings. If Fakhar manages to score just 26 more runs, he will surpass Afridi’s tally and become the third-highest Pakistani run-scorer against New Zealand in the fewest innings.

At the top of the list, Inzamam-ul-Haq holds the record with 1,283 runs in 42 innings, followed by Saeed Anwar, who scored 1,260 runs in 32 innings.
