PDM Steering Committee meet to finalise anti-govt strategy
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Steering Committee meeting is underway Monday (today) where PDM bigwigs are chalking out future course of action of 11-party opposition alliance on contesting Senate elections and protest in front of Election Commission of Pakistan against PTI foreign funding case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PDM Steering Committee is being held at Maulana Fazalur Rehman house in Islamabad.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif reached the meeting venue where responding to question why Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was not attending today’s meeting, Maryam said, ‘Bilawal is not part of the Steering Committee. I am here on Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s invitation.”
PDM President and JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazalur Rehman, PMLN leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Raja Pervazi Ashraf, Sherry Rehman, Abdul Ghafour Haideri, Akram Durrani and other leaders have reached the meeting venue.
In the latest development, the TV channel reported, a PDM meeting is being underway with Maulana Fazalur Rehman in the chair.
“The meeting will have a detailed consultation on the long march and issue of resignations from assemblies will also be discussed in today's meeting,” spokesman of Maulana Fazlur Rehman said.
The TV channel reported PDM will protest in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan ECP on Tuesday (tomorrow) while a meeting of the federal cabinet members will also be held.
Election Commission of Pakistan ECP Scrutiny Committee has summoned PPP and PML-N on the prohibited funding today, the TV channel reported.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has also convened an important meeting to review the security arrangements in the wake of opposition parties’ protest in front of ECP.
The Interior Minister while allowing the opposition to stage their protest in front of the ECP building said, “We will ensure the protection of the ECP building.”
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened a meeting of government spokespersons and party leaders.
The TV channel reported, a meeting of spokespersons chaired by the Prime Minister will be held today to consult on the PDM's nationwide rallies and processions.
The Prime Minister will give important guidelines to the spokespersons in the meeting so spokespersons could represent the government narrative on media.
PML-N leader and former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique exclusively talking to City42 TV channel said PDM movement will not fail and rulers will have to go as incompetent rulers destroyed all institutions and even destroyed his five years of hard work in railways ministry.
“Shahbaz Sharif made Lahore a city of gardens and flowers with ten years of hard work. On the other hand, incompetent rulers turned Lahore into a pile of garbage,” he further said.
