India-US ties all time low after former’s military confrontation with Pakistan

India’s claim that it is a US’s strategic partner in the region is in tatters as the relations between the two countries are presently strained, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The US journal, Foreign Affairs, has laid bare Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim of ‘Shining India’.

According to the journal, following the Pakistan-India military confrontation in May 2025, the relations between India and the US are all-time low.

The magazine writes that after the confrontation was over, Pakistan praised US President Donald Trump’s role in brokering a ceasefire between the two countries; however, India refused to acknowledge the president’s role.

It has further said that on several occasions, President Trump mentioned Pakistan’s victory in the war, which caused embarrassment to India.

Furthermore, the president refused to sign a trade deal with India and imposed heavy tariffs on exports from India.

According to the journal, such steps taken by President Trump risk alienating India. 

And if that thing happened, India will no longer remain US’s reliable strategic partner.

On the other hand, experts on international relations have said that it was India, which had approached the USA to broker a ceasefire.

But India is not willing to admit it openly due to the backlash from its people.

Experts have also pointed out that while on one hand, India rejected the US intervention, on the other hand, it seeks unconditional support from the US in its relations with China.

Meanwhile, India’s influence in the region is weakening as the country has become completely isolated not only in the world but also in the region due to the extremist policies being pursued by the BJP government.

In this situation, it is unlikely that it will ever become the region’s policeman.

According to South China Morning Post, Bangladesh and Myanmar have distanced themselves from India and have become closer to Pakistan.
