The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is making alternative arrangements to transport Pakistani passengers to Europe and the United Kingdom.
According to the sources, the PIA is entering into an agreement with Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines to take the Pakistani passengers to Europe and the United Kingdom. The PIA entered a code sharing agreement with the Pegasus Airlines on January 31 this year. Talks between the PIA and the Pegasus Airlines to make this code sharing agreement more effective are in a decisive phase.
According to the plan, the PIA will take Pakistani passengers to Turkey’s Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul. Passengers will have a two-hour stopover in Istanbul and then Pegasus Airlines flights will take them to their destinations in Europe and the United Kingdom where the PIA used to operate its flights to before the ban.
Pegasus Airlines is a low-cost airline headquartered in the Kurtköy area of Pendik, Istanbul with bases at several Turkish airports.
The national flag carrier is also finalising its schedule for another 25 destinations in Europe and the United Kingdom. According to the plan, PIA charter flights will take passengers to these 25 destinations. In this regard, the PIA is holding talks with a private company of France that owns charter planes.
