Another jump in electricity tariff on the cards

Bad news for the power consumers across the country as there is a likelihood of further increase in electricity prices under the monthly fuel price adjustment for June, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

There is a chance of raise in power tariff for the consumers of Karachi-Electric (K-Electric), by Rs2.33 per unit, while for the consumers of other power distribution companies, hike by Rs1.89 per unit is expected.

Both K-Electric and the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) have separately filed petitions in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

The NEPRA will take up their petitions for the hearing on July 26.

If approved, the consumers will have to pay additional amounts for a period of one month.
