Johnny Depp's London art show features tribute to ex, children
Hollywood icon Johnny Depp is making waves once again, not on screen, but in the art world with a deeply personal new exhibition opening at Castle Fine Art in London.
Titled 'Let the Light In,' the limited collection features just two main works, each offering an emotional tribute to the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s former partner Vanessa Paradis and their children Lily-Rose Depp (26) and Jack Depp (23).
One piece, titled "A Rose Is a Rose Is a Rose," is dedicated to his daughter Lily-Rose and reflects a longtime tradition: Depp has painted her a rose every Valentine’s Day since she was a child. The artwork captures the tenderness of a father-daughter bond nurtured over the years.
The second piece is a moody self-portrait from the early 2000s, painted during Depp’s time living with Paradis and their children in Le Hameau, in the South of France.
The abstract work shows Depp with his eyes hidden behind glasses, a nod to the introspection and solitude of that era.
Speaking about the exhibition, the 62-year-old actor said, “I’ve been lucky enough to understand through various artists, listening, learning things, the only thing you can really do is add the light to what’s there.”
Though Depp and Paradis never married during their 14-year relationship, they remain close, and she continues to inspire his art.
Last year, Depp featured Paradis in his tarot-themed series, painting her as “The Empress,” describing her as “magnificent” and “practical,” with a strength that has “weathered storms.”
Depp’s venture into the art world began commercially in 2022, when his debut collection sold out in hours, earning £3 million.
That launch featured portraits of personal heroes like Keith Richards, Al Pacino, Liz Taylor, and Bob Dylan, now, the spotlight turns inward to his own family story.
The Let the Light In collection is expected to draw a strong response from fans and collectors alike, as Depp blends his passion for art with raw emotion and cherished memories.
