A court in Islamabad on Saturday sentenced five Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) officers to 17-year rigorous imprisonment each for bribing the officials to prepare an audit report in their favour, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle had arrested IESCO’s three divisional accounts officers and two audit officers in August 2024 red-handed and recovered over Rs14 million from their possession.

The allegation against Zeeshan Ali Akbar, Nazar Hussain, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Jahangir Ahmad and Saqib Zaheer was that they bribed the concerned officials for the preparation of an audit report for the period (2019-2024) in their favour.

Today, Special Judge Central Rawalpindi Abdur Rehman Muhammad Arif completed the hearing of the case and pronounced the verdict.
