Iranian envoy says US violated MoU, alleges war has damaged infrastructure

Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has claimed that the United States violated the terms of a memorandum of understanding reached after months of Pakistani mediation, accusing Washington of interpreting the agreement in a manner contrary to its original text.

In a message posted on social media platform X, the Iranian envoy said a 14-point memorandum of understanding had been agreed upon following months of mediation by Pakistan and that the parties had decided to resume negotiations after six months.

According to Ambassador Moghadam, the United States later interpreted certain provisions of the memorandum in a way that differed from the original agreement. He alleged that, based on this interpretation, the US took control of parts of the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to achieve objectives that it had been unable to accomplish on the battlefield.

The Iranian ambassador said Tehran could not accept what he described as an "arbitrary interpretation" of the memorandum, arguing that it amounted to a clear violation of the agreement's terms.

He further alleged that the United States had initiated military action in violation of both the memorandum of understanding and international norms.

According to the envoy, the conflict has resulted in the destruction of infrastructure.

The remarks reflect the Iranian government's position as expressed by its ambassador. There was no immediate response available from US authorities regarding the claims.
