100% utility allowance increased for SC employees

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday approved a 100 percent increase in utility allowances for its employees, providing significant financial relief across all pay grades. 

The approval was granted by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, with the revised allowances set to take effect from 1 July 2026, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the new arrangement, employees in Grades 1 to 6 will receive a monthly utility allowance of Rs12,000, up from Rs6,000. For employees in Grades 7 to 10, the allowance has been increased from Rs8,000 to Rs16,000.

Staff members in Grades 11 to 15 will now receive Rs20,000 instead of Rs10,000, while Grade 16 officers will receive Rs24,000, compared with the previous Rs12,000. The allowance for Grade 17 officers has been raised from Rs15,000 to Rs30,000.

Similarly, officers in Grade 18 will receive Rs36,000, up from Rs18,000, while Grade 19 officers will see their allowance increase from Rs21,000 to Rs42,000. For Grade 20 officers, the amount has been doubled from Rs24,000 to Rs48,000.

Senior officers in Grade 21 and above will now receive Rs60,000 per month, compared with the earlier allocation of Rs30,000.

According to the decision, the utility allowance covers expenses related to gas and electricity consumption.

The additional financial burden resulting from the increase will be met through the Supreme Court’s approved budget for the fiscal year 2026–27.
