PTI founder seeks early hearing on appeal against objections to hospital transfer petition

An application has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of a chamber appeal related to a petition requesting the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.

According to the application, Advocate Aziz Bhandari has moved a miscellaneous plea requesting that the chamber appeal be fixed for hearing during the week beginning June 22.

The application states that a petition seeking medical treatment for the PTI founder at Shifa International Hospital had previously been filed before the Supreme Court. However, the Registrar's Office raised objections to the petition, including an objection that it had not been filed through a duly authorized attorney.

A chamber appeal was subsequently filed against the objections of the Registrar's Office, but the appeal is still pending, the application said.

The petitioner argued that the objections have now become ineffective because a valid power of attorney has since been obtained from the PTI founder.

According to the application, the PTI founder granted power of attorney to Advocate-on-Record Javed Masood Tahir Bhatti. It further states that the power of attorney was signed and confirmed by the Adiala Jail superintendent on May 25.

The application contends that, in light of the subsequent completion of legal requirements, the chamber appeal should be fixed for hearing at the earliest in the interest of justice.

The plea also referred to the PTI founder's recent medical examination, stating that he was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on June 14 for a medical check-up without prior information being provided to his family.

The applicant requested the Supreme Court to schedule the chamber appeal for hearing during the coming week so that the matter relating to the PTI founder's medical treatment can be considered by the court.
