They told mom to leave the room, Emaan Khan shares bitter industry experience
Pakistani actress Emaan Khan has candidly opened up about the difficult experiences her mother faced during the early days of her acting career, revealing that some actresses allegedly asked her mother to leave makeup rooms and wait outside despite accompanying her daughter to sets.
During her appearance on ‘Mazaaq Raat’ hosted by Imran Ashraf, Emaan reflected on the treatment her mother received and how those incidents shaped her perspective on respect and dignity within the entertainment industry.
"When I initially entered the industry, nothing like this happened directly to me, but it happened to my mother, and that hurt me deeply because I believe the same respect I deserve should also be given to my mother," Emaan shared.
She explained that whenever certain actresses were present, her mother would reportedly be asked to step outside due to overcrowding.
"They would say, 'Her mother has come, please ask her to sit outside. The girl is here and it's getting too crowded.' My mother would quietly sit outside for hours and never let me feel that she had been asked to leave. She never made me realize she was being excluded. There are some actresses who behave this way, and when I witnessed it, I understood that this should never happen to anyone," she said.
Host Imran Ashraf jokingly asked whether those actresses behave differently now that Emaan has become a leading heroine herself.
Laughing, Emaan replied, "Now, obviously, they respect her. And if they don't, then I'll make sure to tell them that this isn't acceptable."
Emaan's mother, who was also present on the show, confirmed that such incidents occurred on multiple occasions.
"Yes, it happened many times. But I never let my daughters know because I didn't want them to be disturbed or distracted from their work. When people asked why I was there, I would simply say that I was bored at home and decided to visit. I never wanted them to worry about me while they were shooting," she recalled.
She added that only years later did her daughters learn about the sacrifices she had made.
"Sometimes, in moments of frustration at home, I would mention what I had endured. That's when they asked me why I had never told them before. Today, Alhamdulillah, whenever I go somewhere, those same actresses stand up, greet me warmly, and show me respect. But that isn't because of anything I did; it's because my daughters have earned me that respect," she concluded.
