All the provincial government offices except those of five departments will be closed in Sindh for 15 days from tomorrow (Thursday), while a notification has been issued regarding the closure of all public and private universities till May 31.
The health, home, planning, finance as well as the planning and development will, however, continue functioning.
For this purpose, the Services and General Administration (S&GAD) has sent a notification to the chief secretary for final approval.
This notification is part of the announcement made earlier in the week, which included closure of shopping malls, restaurants, parks and inter-city buses.
Separately, the Transport Department has issued a notification regarding the closure of inter-city buses for 15 days from tomorrow.
Through the latest orders passed today, the Home Department has now officially empowered the deputy commissioners/ assistant commissioners across Sindh to implement the government decisions.
Beauty parlours, showrooms and electronic markets are also among those businesses which will remain shut in the coming days.
The government has taken these decisions amid the growing threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the wake of possible lock down-like situation and its effects on the poor, the Sindh government also decided to distribute 60,000 ration bags, which will contain dry items.
The Sindh government, which is very active in dealing with the coronavirus, has been urging the federal government for taking strict measures amid the crisis. Some of the provincial leaders have even called for suspending train service.
