Punjab govt launches health screening programme for special children

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive set of initiatives to improve the lives of special children across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Presiding over a high-level meeting in Lahore, she launched a health screening program targeting 40,000 special children to facilitate early disease diagnosis and ensure free medical treatment. To promote financial independence, the CM approved the Special People Employment Program, which will create job opportunities for differently-abled individuals. Additionally, she introduced the Rising Star Card to provide financial and educational support to special children.

The government has approved the Packed Food Meal Program, ensuring children in special education institutions receive proper nutrition. Furthermore, nine electric buses will be deployed to enhance their mobility, making transportation more accessible and convenient.

To boost educational opportunities, a province-wide enrollment and awareness campaign will be launched, encouraging families to enroll their special children in schools. The chief minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining quality standards in special education centers and ensuring a safe learning environment.

These initiatives highlight the Punjab government's commitment to fostering an inclusive society where special children receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
