Ministry takes notice of additional cargo fee charged from meat exporters
Protest by meat exporters finally bore fruit after the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday, taking notice of Rs50 per kilo additional cargo fee charged from exporters, ordered an investigation and directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to immediately resolve the issue, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ministry also directed the CAA to submit the report at the earliest.
A private ground handling company is facing the allegation of charging exporters excessive rates.
On the other hand, Pakistan Meat Exporters and Processors Association has said that exporters are still being charged excessive rates.
The exporters have demanded the regulation of cargo charges.
They have said that tough competition is expected from Brazilian and Australian exporters due to an increase in cargo charges.
